Recently, in October, my Lakeview Centennial JSA Chapter held a spirit night fundraiser at a Raising Cane’s place where people could mention the chapter/fundraiser when ordering to contribute. Merely 15% of all sales with this mention would be donated back to us. This was the second time we held it there, and in the last time, we only profited $31, which the marketing department of Raising Cane’s deemed insufficient to even write a check for us. However, because of how generous the employees were at this Raising Cane’s, they were willing to hand us a gift basket filled with Cane’s merch, such as gift cards and chapstick, that could be sold for profits.

Yet, the disappointment here couldn’t dishearten my chapter from trying harder this year. Following our eventful first year, we were able to expand our chapter to over 30 members by underscoring the fun memories from Spring State, debates, community service, and other events. This was crucial to our spirit night at the same place where this time we received an actual check of $83.17. While the progress is clear here and shall be undeniably appreciated, it will only be the start of our fundraiser efforts to truly be close to our potential financial strength!
